Originally appearing in 2005 as a pattern for Judy’s fabric line with Cranston Print Works, Windy City Star has been brought back in all its glory.

The pattern is 13 pages long, with all the information you need to make the quilt in your preferred size and with your preferred method easily, accurately, and with a minimum of fuss. You can always count on Judy Martin to deliver the best and most accurate patterns.

Windy City Stars comes in 4 sizes: 102” x 102” or 89-1/4″ x 89-1/4″ or 63-3/4″ x 89-1/4″ or 51” x 51”. It has patch counts, yardage, cutting diagrams, exploded piecing diagrams, quilt construction diagrams, an alternate coloring, detailed instructions for constructing the blocks and quilt with rotary-cut patches or optional template-cut patches. You will also find optional paper foundations you can copy if paper piecing is your preferred method.

The cutting for this quilt involves some unfamiliar shapes, but with Judy’s diagrams and instructions they’re no more challenging than half-square triangles. The sewing is easier than doing a LeMoyne star. You will need to keep your wits about you a little because of the unfamiliar shapes and the diagonally constructed blocks, but again Judy’s diagrams and instructions make it a snap.
