Since Judy coauthored Pieced Borders with Marsha McCloskey in 1994, she has included pieced borders on most of her quilts. She wanted to gather these quilts in one place and talk about what the pieced borders bring to her quilts. Border Inspirations collects 82 large color photographs of bordered quilts from a dozen of her books. Borders range from simple sawtooths to stunning block borders.

This book is meant to be an idea book, full of inspiration for making quilts with pieced borders or for adding pieced borders to your quilt tops. You can use it to learn what you like (and what you don’t) in a pieced border. Without getting into the details of fit and construction, this book will illustrate the possibilities for pieced borders, show you an assortment of borders, and demonstrate what they can do for a wide range of quilts.

You don’t have to be the sort of person who can simply add a border to an existing pattern all on your own. Not everyone can do that.
